Social Situation Mapping (SSM) offers cognitive behavior strategies to teach individuals about the specific relationship between behaviors, others' perspectives, others' actions (consequences) and the student's own emotions about those around him or her. SBM is a visual tool that displays these abstract concepts through a flow chart. Intended for ages 8+, this strategy is most effective for students with solid language skills.
A collection of over 50 Social Situation Maps covers a range of topics for home, community, and the classroom. Social Situation Mapping is geared for use by parents and professionals to help those with social thinking challenges understand what behaviors are expected and unexpected in a way that makes sense to their way of thinking.
Social Situation Mapping Research Outcomes Project is Currently Closed. Please check back or email us a request to be notified about upcoming research projects.
