Robert Brooks, Ph.D, Guest Speaker

Dr. Robert Brooks is a clinical psychologist on the part-time faculty of Harvard Medical School and former Director of the Department of Psychology at McLean Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital.

He has lectured nationally and internationally and written extensively about such themes as: education, clinical interventions, motivation, resilience across the lifespan, parenting, family relationships, and positive school and work environments. He is the author or co-author of 19 books, including Raising Resilient Children; The Power of Resilience: Achieving Balance, Confidence, and Personal Strength in Your Life; Chasing Positivity; and the just published Tenacity in Children: Nurturing the Seven Instincts for Lifetime Success.


He has served as a consultant to numerous groups, including Sesame Street Parents’ Magazine. He has received many awards for his work, most recently the Mental Health Humanitarian Award from William James College for his contributions as a clinician, educator, and author.
